About This Project
This project was designed to teach us the importance of Oral History and why historians use it. Oral history is claimed to be biased and in some cases it has been known that the interviewee's memories have been altered although it is still an important asset in obtaining history. Having a first hand account of someone who has experience in a certain time period is sometimes better than reading the experience out of a textbook.
This project was designed to teach us the basics and process of Oral History. We were also required to research different topics relating to our main topic in order to create a narrative of those sub topics. We were also to conduct an interview with someone who had lived through the main topic that we had chosen. Our topic would be The Great Depression. Finally, we were to develop a website with all the information that we had acquired previously. The subtopics we chose to write narratives on can be found in the links above.
